That is the classic flexgate symptom — a backlight flex cable that wears through from repeated opening. It is frequently misdiagnosed as a failed display. We test for it specifically, because repairing the cable costs far less than a display assembly.
Can the butterfly keyboard be fixed, or does the whole top case need replacing?
